Lambeau is one of our UK rehomes, originally bought as a puppy in New Mexico, USA before travelling to the UK with his family on a military posting. He has always been an incredibly loved family dog, and this heartbreaking decision has not been made lightly.

Due to medical issues and increasing work commitments, the family are sadly no longer able to meet his needs and have reached out for help to rehome him, a decision we fully support as being in his best interests.

Lambeau is a lovely boy: friendly, affectionate, and gentle. He has lived alongside infants and toddlers and is extremely patient, though he doesn't always realise his size and may help himself to snacks within reach if he can! He is fully house trained, enjoys fuss and human company, and is good with all types of handling. He is happy at both the vet and the groomers.

Lambeau has responded well to positive reward training and knows several cue words such as Sit, Down, Come and Paw. Lambeau is a happy, eager-to-please dog who genuinely enjoys learning. Although he copes well when left, he has recently been spending far too long alone due to unavoidable circumstances. He would love a home where he can have the company, structure, exercise and enrichment he enjoys and deserves.

Lambeau is a social dog who loves meeting new people and other dogs. He would thrive as an only dog again if his new family are home often and can make him the centre of their world. Alternatively, he can live with other well-matched, neutered dogs. As he is older and still intact, some entire males may react towards him, but he is never the aggressor and will behave submissively if confronted. Neutering him once settled will be the adopter's responsibility as per your adoption contract when he is ready for the procedure and recovery.

Lambeau has not lived with or been tested with cats, but he is gentle and curious with rabbits, so similar behaviour may be possible with correct, gradual introductions although we cannot make any guarantees.

Lambeau is a true outdoor-loving, adventure-ready Retriever. He adores water, lakes, rivers, beaches, and enjoys hiking and exploring. His recall is not yet perfect, but he tends to stay close on walks and would benefit from a patient adopter who can continue his training in this area.

Our assessor described him as “a gorgeous boy, sweet-natured, calm and very friendly.” He greeted her own two Goldies through the car crate with much excitement and plenty of tail wagging.

Lambeau is in excellent physical condition, he's a big lad but not overweight, and is up to date with vaccinations and flea/worming treatments. His only noted health issue is two slightly cracked teeth from chewing bones, both assessed by a vet and cleared to remain as they are.

Lambeau is looking for a home where he can receive the time, companionship and daily exercise he needs. He would suit a family or individual who enjoys the outdoors, understands the needs of a large working breed, and can offer him the structure and affection he thrives on.
