Badger is one of our UK born and bred rescues. She is a gorgeous Golden Retriever mix, her mum was half Goldie, half St Bernard, dad full Golden Retriever.
Badger has lived with her current family since she was a puppy but, unfortunately, due to the arrival of children and a busy family life they are now struggling to meet Badger's needs.
Badger is a well loved and cherished family pet and this is an incredibly difficult decision for the family to make but they want Badger to have a family who can give her everything she needs. Badger is great with children and currently lives with a baby and a 3 year old but a home with older children or an adult only home would enable Badger to get the time and attention she needs.
Badger has responded well to positive reward training and knows several cue words such as Sit, Down, Paw, Come, Drop, Bed/Place. She has also attended puppy classes, socialisation, and obedience training where she responded well to the classes and trainers. Badger is good with all types of handling and loves fuss and attention, not a fan of having a bath but she will tolerate it well. She is happy to see the vet.
Badger enjoys playing fetch in the garden or at the secure field and walking on her long lead in quiet spaces. She does struggle with meeting unknown dogs whilst on lead and will need some understanding and patience in this area. Badger will need time and correct introductions when meeting other dogs as she can be anxious and defensive at first but she has met and built relationships with several larger, male dogs including parent's German Shepherd and Belgian Shepherd.
One of Badger's trainers said that he believed she had every possibility of getting along with dogs with time and the right training.
Badger loves people and is a friendly girl with people both in and out of the house. Our assessor said 'During our meeting, Badger sat next to me with her paw on my arm for me to stroke her chest.'
Badger is a healthy girl, up to date with her vaccinations and flea (monthly) and worming (3 monthly) treatment.
If you think you can offer Badger the home she needs then please get in touch.
