Bailey and Bear are both UK rescues and a bonded pair. They were rescued along with three other golden retrievers recently dumped at the side of the road, most probably breeding dogs who were no longer wanted. Sadly, the local authorities were going to put all of the dogs to sleep but luckily they were taken in by the family of one of our lovely adopters who own a farm.

The dogs were given a barn to stay in and they were cared for until they could get them the help they desperately needed. We were contacted and agreed to help. We arranged for the dogs to be transported to the kennels in Newport where they could continue their care, be assessed and see the vet.

Bear was suffering with a bad neck wound and his fur was extremely matted. He was very wary of humans but would cautiously take treats from nearby. Poor Bailey was completely terrified and shut down.

Since arriving at kennels both boys have been doing well and getting braver and more confident. They are still very nervous but they are happy for the staff to go in with them now. They are happy to see the staff in the mornings and will come to the door and lick their hands. Outside of the kennel they will happily take treats.

They are still very fearful of leads so they will need time and understanding with this.

We would love to find a foster home for these two gorgeous boys so they can experience the love and comfort they deserve. Good outside space will be essential as walks and leads will be something they will need time to understand. A home where someone is around most of the time and they can get the patience, guidance and care they need in the next steps of their journey.
