Patch was rescued in Bosnia as a pup in Sept 2020. When he was rescued it was noticed his front legs were bandy; he was X-rayed and put in casts for 4 weeks with added calcium supplements to help his bones form.
When his casts were removed his front legs showed massive improvement but then he seemed to have similar issues with his back legs. After more X-rays the vet said nothing could be done. He is currently on joint supplements for support.
Patch will need measured exercise and he has also had hydrotherapy in the past which helps his joints.
Although he may suffer with his joints as he ages, it's not something surgery will fix so is something that will just need to be managed.
Sadly Patch hasn't had the best luck since being in the UK, he was adopted and then given away without the rescue knowing When we finally tracked him down he needed to be moved so luckily an amazing foster stepped forward and he has been living his best life since!
Patch needs someone who is around most of the time, he is building up his time being left alone and this is something he is doing amazing with! He is currently happy to be left for just over an hour and this is being built up gradually daily.
Patch is playful with other dogs, backs off if told off and is good at reading other dogs too, he is a social boy who enjoys his walks and running around on his longline!
Patch is extremely loving and wants to please. He is a snuggle bug and loves human affection. He just loves cuddles or being close to you. He is doing great with basic commands, and has good recall if a whistle is used to get his attention. He doesn't want to stray far from his humans. Patch is a very sweet boy and is gentle with humans, even during "rough play". He is also gentle with children and good at vets!
Patch is quite a fussy eater and more of a grazer but he is settling better with his food routine. He is good on a lead and around traffic, he is good on long lead although can get a bit strong when he is excited to meet another dog! Patch is such an adaptable boy, he is an absolute pleasure to have around.
It would be amazing if Patch could find his forever home. He really does deserve it
Some photos of when he was in Bosnia have been included, including his rescue photo.
