River is a lovely young boy who is looking for a family who can continue helping him build confidence and feel safe in the world.

Since arriving in the UK, River has made some lovely progress in his current foster home. He has started to build relationships with people he trusts, enjoys gentle affection, responds to basic cues including recall and 'Bed', and has shown himself to be a sweet, sensitive and affectionate dog.

River absolutely loves being outdoors and is happiest exploring the garden, snoozing in the sunshine, going for walks and spending time with his doggy friends. He gets excited when the lead comes out, enjoys his walks and is happy wearing a harness.

One of River's biggest comforts is the company of another dog. He forms very strong bonds with canine companions and loves to play, relax and sleep alongside them. For this reason, we feel he would benefit greatly from living with a confident, friendly resident dog who can continue showing him the ropes.

River can be nervous indoors and is still learning that home life is safe. He can be wary of unfamiliar people, visitors, children, sudden movements and unexpected noises, particularly inside the home. When worried, River prefers to avoid rather than confront, he will simply take himself to the garden where he feels safer.

He enjoys enrichment activities such as scatter feeding, snuffle mats, lick mats and Kongs when he feels comfortable. He can be a little fussy with food and treats but does have a soft spot for cheese and the occasional hot dog!

River is looking for a calm, patient foster home that understands sensitive dogs and is willing to allow him to progress at his own pace. A secure garden is essential, along with adopters or fosterers with a canine companion who can continue helping him build confidence around indoor living while allowing him the time and space he needs to settle.

Despite his worries, River is a really lovely boy with a gentle nature. Once he trusts, he enjoys company, affection and being part of the family in his own quiet way. We are confident that in the right environment he will continue his progress and learn that he is safe and loved.
