Kallie's journey hasn't been an easy one. Rescued as a young pup in Bosnia, she found a loving family in the UK. Sadly, after they lost their tenancy, we were initially asked to find her a short-term foster home while they searched for a new house. Ultimately, they decided they no longer wanted Kallie.
Kallie struggled with the sudden upheaval and, under very stressful circumstances, reacted defensively to a man in the foster home.
Since then, Kallie has been back at kennels, where she has been fully assessed by Ollie, our dog trainer, and we believe that in the right home, she will thrive. Full access to her assessment report is available to applicants.
Kallie is everything you would expect from a guardian breed dog. She is loyal, intelligent, protective of her home, and very affectionate once she knows and trusts you.
Kallie can be wary of strangers, so introductions must be managed, but once she knows you, she is all waggy tail and puppy like.
Kallie needs a calm, confident, experienced owner who understands large guardian breeds. Kallie previously lived with two young children in her home, whom she loved very much and could live with dog savvy older children.
Kallie absolutely loves her people once bonded. It has been very hard for her to lose her family, but she has made new friends at kennels and greets everyone like a big, goofy puppy! Kallie is food motivated and responds really well to treats.
She walks well on lead but can be strong due to her size, especially if she's excited. She is fine with calm, confident dogs and could live with an older male dog.
Kallie has shown no food or toy guarding tendencies. She is adaptable indoors, enjoys play, and recovers quickly from new experiences even if she is initially unsure.
She could live with cats if they were introduced properly and given time to build their relationship. Kallie travels well in the car.
Kallie will be the most loyal, loving companion to someone who understands her breed and is willing to manage her introductions.
If you are looking for a devoted guardian and have the experience she needs, you might just be her perfect match.
All applicants will need to be able to visit Kallie at Kennels beforehand to meet her prior to moving forward with adoption.
