Oaka is one of our UK born rescues. She is a gorgeous Working Cocker who has been dearly loved in her family home since puppyhood.

Sadly, since the family's baby began crawling, managing Oaka, unaware cats, and the baby all safely together has become increasingly difficult.

Oaka's world has become very restricted and stressful. She spends much of her day behind gates or separated, which is causing her frustration, stress, and a lack of affection and enrichment.

Her family are heartbroken but want only the best life for her. They know she will blossom in a calm, pet-free, adult-only home with someone who understands the breed, her needs and appreciates how loving, playful, and bright she is.

Oaka is a sweet, cuddly, people-focused girl who wants to be close to her humans. We believe that in an adult-only, pet-free home with structure and understanding, she will thrive.

Often typical of the breed Oaka does have a tendency to guard items shes loves but she has a well-managed history with the behaviour. She can seek to guard items she's chewing or resting on. She can also sometimes guard food and her favourite person from other animals, hence the preference as an only dog.

She will communicate clearly and often opts to settle in her crate when she feels triggered. We believe that with no other pets or babies around, her RG is expected to reduce significantly with an owner who can recognise and understand her behaviour. Her trainer reports good impulse control and a strong learning ability. She is a very bright and clever girl.

Without triggers, Oaka is playful and sociable with other dogs. She enjoys pack walks and loves chase games.

Oaka is excited to meet new people, and is a very affectionate and cuddly girl once bonded.

Oaka is comfortable with handling, vet checks, crate time, and being left home alone for a few hours. She is fully house trained, crate trained and has excellent food bowl manners and impulse control.

She has responded wonderfully to positive reinforcement training and is eager to learn. She knows: Sit, Down, Paw, Wait, and Come.

Oaka is an active, healthy girl. She was born with a small umbilical hernia which is due to be repaired during her spay as is the usual procedure for this.

Oaka is looking for an active adult-only, per free home, preferably with a spaniel experienced family who can provide the structure, enrichment, and attention she needs in exchange for lots of cuddles and affection!
