Gorgeous Harry was one of our pound rescues in Bosnia. Since then, he has been through a lot, completing heartworm treatment and having a small fatty lump removed from his back.
Sadly, Harry hasn’t had the best luck with homes. After finally travelling to the UK, his first adopter pulled out after a week in kennels. He was then adopted again but has since returned and is now back with us waiting for the right home.
Affectionately known in rescue as Harry the Hugger, he is a truly special boy. He is very people-oriented, forms strong bonds, and absolutely loves affection. He thrives on human company and will happily snuggle up for cuddles, he just wants to be close to his people.
Harry walks well on lead and enjoys getting out to explore at his own pace. He is well socialised with other dogs and has lived happily alongside them, enjoying their company. He also passed his cat test overseas, although he hasn’t lived with cats in a home environment.
He would benefit from losing a little weight after his time in kennels. He is clean in the house, travels well, and settles nicely when given space. Harry is a clever boy who learns quickly.
Harry is a kind, playful and loving soul who deserves the very best. However, he has experienced a lot of change in a short space of time and is still learning to feel safe and settled in a home environment. He is looking for an experienced, calm and understanding home who will allow him time to decompress and won’t expect too much too soon.
Harry can become overwhelmed and, like many dogs who have had a lot of upheaval, he may guard items or his space at times. This is manageable in the right home with good awareness, clear boundaries, and by giving him space when needed.
He will need a calm, structured home environment with a family who understand dog body language and respect his communication. A home committed to ongoing guidance and management while he settles who will avoid handling or approaching him when he is resting or has something he values.
Harry will be an incredible dog in the right environment, he just needs the right people who will understand him, give him time, and build trust at his pace. He has so much love to give and will make a wonderful companion for a patient and committed home.
