Marley (originally named Balto) and his seven siblings were rescued as tiny orphaned puppies after being found abandoned by the roadside in Bosnia. They were taken into the care of their rescuer, but heartbreakingly, only four of the puppies survived.
Marley travelled to the UK as a puppy in 2024. He was initially fostered before being adopted into his current home. He has now grown into a lovely, affectionate young adult dog who sadly finds himself looking for a new forever family.
Marley is a happy, playful and loving boy with a wonderful character. He absolutely adores affection, cuddles and spending time with his people. He's a sociable, fun-loving boy who enjoys being involved in family life and is always happy to have some fuss!
He currently shares his home with another dog and a cat and gets on very well with them both. He's also recently spent time with a young visiting puppy and has been very tolerant and playful with the little one.
Marley loves his toys, particularly his favourite orange ball, and will happily entertain himself playing with it. He's also a clever boy who enjoys learning and would benefit from a family who can provide regular walks, playtime and mentally stimulating activities such as scent games, treat-finding puzzles and other enrichment.
Marley already knows several commands, including sit, down, paw, wait and give/drop. He responds well to praise, affection and positive reinforcement, and would enjoy continuing his training with his new family.
He enjoys his walks and exploring the world around him. His recall is still a work in progress, particularly when there are exciting distractions, so his new family will need to continue working on this and keep him safely on lead while building reliable recall.
Marley can be quite enthusiastic when meeting people and may initially jump up or bark with excitement. When our Home Assessors visited, he greeted them with some barking and jumping but settled down very quickly and was soon enjoying plenty of cuddles and attention.
He can also be vocal around unfamiliar visitors entering the home therefore he will benefit from a family who understands the importance of calm, gradual introductions and sensible visitor management.
Although Marley gets on well with the dog he lives with, he can understandably be a bit barky towards other entire male dogs when out and about. Marley will need to be neutered as per his adoption contract once he is settled with his new family.
At home, Marley is described as a lovely companion who enjoys relaxing with his people, sleeping beside his adopter and having plenty of affection. He's generally a settled boy indoors and and happy to be left alone for short periods of time.
Marley would love to find a family who can offer the companionship, exercise and enrichment he deserves. A loving, committed family with the time to involve him in their lives, enjoy adventures together and provide the attention, stimulation and stability he needs.
Marley has lots of love to give and would make a wonderful companion for the right family. He deserves a home where he can continue to thrive, enjoy life and be loved for the gorgeous, affectionate and playful boy he is.
