Trigger (formerly Louie) is one of Jaz's five puppies who were born in rescue overseas. Sadly, through no fault of his own, Trigger has found himself looking for a new forever family.
Trigger is a very handsome, affectionate hound mix who believes he's lap-dog sized and absolutely loves nothing more than curling up for a cuddle with his people.
He's a happy, playful boy who enjoys games of tug of war, sniffing out treats and using his clever hound brain in scent games such as 'find it'. He loves exploring woodland walks, parks and secure fields where he can stretch his legs and follow all the exciting smells the world has to offer. A good sunbathe is also high on his list of favourite activities!
Trigger has lived happily with a 4-year-old child and has formed a wonderful bond with her. He is gentle and affectionate, but because he is a larger, bouncy dog who can accidentally barge past when excited, we feel he would be best suited to a home with slightly older, dog savvy children.
He has also lived successfully with cats. He sometimes tries to encourage them to play but respects their boundaries when they have had enough and has never shown any aggression towards them.
Like many young dogs, Trigger still has a few things he would benefit from continuing to work on. He can pull on the lead when excited and can give you an enthusiastic, bouncy greeting, so consistency and positive reinforcement will help him continue to mature into the fantastic dog we know he is.
Recall is also still a work in progress and, true to his hound heritage, he can become distracted by an interesting scent! He enjoys the freedom of secure fields or exploring on a long line while he continues to build reliable recall.
Trigger has made fantastic progress since being in his current home. He has overcome his separation anxiety with patience, routine and a little Radio 2 playing while his family are out, and now settles well when left for sensible periods. He has also grown in confidence around traffic, with most vehicles no longer bothering him, although the occasional large lorry or unusual vehicle may still make him jump, but he's fine if calmly guided and reassured through these moments.
Trigger is a loyal, loving, funny and intelligent boy who thrives on being part of the family. He would love a home where he can enjoy plenty of adventures, continue his training, and then spend his evenings curled up with the people he loves.
He really is a special boy, and we know his perfect forever home is out there waiting for him.
